WALKER CO. - An automotive supplier in Jasper is bringing more than 100 new jobs to the area.
The name of the company is "Amtex North America."
Amtex already has one plant in Walker County, which is located on Industrial Court.
The new plant will be just around the corner.
A groundbreaking was held this morning for the new plant.
Amtex is expected to start building later this month.
The automotive supplier makes interior carpets, linings, and various trim components for vehicles.
Governor Bentley was on-hand for the big announcement this morning.
He says the new jobs and new plant will mean a great deal for the entire Walker County area.
"110 new jobs for this area comparatively is just as significant as 1,000 in a large city."
No word on when Amtex will start hiring for its new facility, but we're told the plant should be complete by March 2013.
